About Us

Better Balance PT and Wellness offers mobile outpatient physical therapy and wellness to people in Kingman, AZ. We exist to help people build resilient bodies!

Everyone deserves to experience physical therapy that cares as much about them as they care about others. Too often, we have seen people slow down to the point where their bodies struggle to keep up with what their hearts want to do.

This community is built on daily acts of love and service, and we want you to keep bringing that to others for as long as possible. We believe the traditional healthcare model for therapy has failed so many people because it puts third party payers in the driver seat of your healthcare. Why should someone sitting behind a screen determine what is best for you?

We subscribe to a private, concierge model that puts you in the driver’s seat of your healthcare. This model allows us to have the time, space, & resources to meet your needs. We integrate your preference, opinions, and goals into each treatment so you are in charge of your recovery.

Because we partner with you during one-on-one visits, you are never rushed through therapy or cut off before finishing what you set out to accomplish. Your Road Map to Recovery

Discovery

This first phase consists of completing a full body assessment, determine strength & balance, and develop a specific home exercise program to start addressing areas of difficulty.

Recovery

Once a baseline has been determined, you and your therapist will break down the physical steps needed to complete your goal. This phase is also where you build the confidence to help you grow.

Real World

This phase is about doing real-world situations in real-world settings. We meet you wherever is needed to tackle your goal! Whether it's the grocery store, the park, or a trail, we will meet you there to help you meet your goal.

Resilience

You made it across the bridge! Once on a new mountain top, many patients have new goals they want to accomplish while others start the wellness journey to maintain their achievements.

Services We Offer

Balance Training and Fall Prevention

Losing your balance is your body's version of a check engine light coming on saying it needs attention. Through our customized balance program, we establish a baseline of function for your three balance systems: your vision, your sensation, and your inner ear. From here, we build a stronger foundation in these areas while adding in challenges to replace your fear with confidence. For some, we also prescribe specific exercises to improve their ability to get on and off the floor to do what they love such as playing with their grandkids or gardening.

Post Stroke Recovery

Having a stroke or a mini-stroke (TIA) can lead to imbalance, poor coordination, and difficulty learning how to walk again. Though our program, we focus on dynamic movements to facilitate your body working as one unit again. We also partner with other medical professionals, such as orthotists, to provide custom leg and arm splints if it would help people regain independence with mobility.

Amputation Rehab and Prosthetic Training

Adjusting to life as an amputee can be difficult, but it's not impossible. There is hope to walk again and we want to partner alongside you as you learn to walk again. The first step is to prevent muscle tightness (contractures) so you can be fitted for a prosthetic. While your prosthetic is being made, you will progress to increasing hip strength and single leg standing balance to help you have a smoother transition when your prosthetic arrives. After your prosthetic arrives we will continue to help you transition to this new way of mobility with increased confidence.

LSVT BIG for Parkinson's Disease

We train people with Parkinson's Disease (PD) to use their body more normally through this intensive four week program. Because people living with PD or other neurological conditions often move with gestures and actions that become smaller and slower, they may have trouble getting around or doing activities of daily living. The LSVT BIG program trains them to recalibrate how they perceive their movements with what others actually see. Starting your work with LSVT BIG before you've noticed significant problems with balance, mobility or posture will often lead to the best results, but it's never too late to start!

Wellness Programs

We all know that exercise is good for us, but exactly what exercises should we be doing to help us meet personal goals? During our wellness visits, we partner alongside you to give you a plan for healthy living with movement. Weather it's weight loss, keeping your function, or improving general endurance, we will develop a clear plan for your to follow.

Telehealth

Distance and illness shouldn't dictate receiving the care that you want, which is why we offer telehealth services for physical therapy and wellness services. The best part about telehealth is you don't need to download an app or go to a special website. Shortly before your scheduled telehealth session, a secure and private link will be emailed to you and you simply click on the link to start your session. All you need for telehealth session is your phone or computer, some space to move, and comfortable clothing.

Common Questions

I have insurance. Can I still have PT or wellness services with you?
Yes! Regardless of having Medicare, Humana, or any other form of insurance, you can still have physical therapy sessions and/or wellness services.

Do I need a referral from my physician?
No. Just like how you call your dentist, chiropractor, or primary physician to make an appointment to see them, you can see a physical therapist without a referral and we will partner with your primary provider to let them know about the plan we are establishing. Physicians and other healthcare providers can send a referral to us though.
How many sessions will I have?
Instead of functioning in the traditional healthcare model for therapy of requesting for a certain amount of visits, we function in phases. Because of this, the amount of PT sessions you may need will be discussed in person with your therapist. You are never given a "cap" for sessions and you won't be cut off before you reach your new beginnings phase. For wellness services, services can be offered once to four times a month.

Where will sessions be held?
Wherever you are is where we will meet you. If you want to improve function at home, we will meet you there. If you want help establishing an exercise plan at a gym, we will meet you at the gym. If you want to gain confidence going around a busy grocery store, we will meet you there.

What about if I live out of state or if I'm ill?
Telehealth services are available for both PT and wellness services because distance and illness shouldn't affect how you decide what is best for you.
